Usually when you install a video card in your Mac Pro 5,1 and it doesn't show the loading screen or anything (black screen) that means that the video drivers haven't loaded yet. Might I ask what OS do you have installed on your Mac Pro 5,1 ?? Should be High Sierra or Mojave for best results. According to Other World Computing, it works, but they say only in an eGPU or in a PC. Maybe yes, press the button. Also reset the smc/pmu and zap pram as well. Might help to clear some stuff out. how to reset smc/pmu:: shut down Mac pro, disconnect power cord, hold down power button for about 45 seconds, release finger from button and press power button to start up. How to zap pram: on Startup hold down Apple/Cloverleaf/Command, Option, P and R keys all together for 3 chimes, then release and let mac boot up as per usual. Otherwise, you may have to consider getting the card flashed to a Mac version. Your video card should be in the bottom x16 PCI slot. The additional 6 pin connector is only if you want to overclock the card. Ohhh..and you won't get a boot screen on this card, it should work if you're willing to be patient. You could try putting your old card in, assuming it's Metal compatible (Yeah----Mojave will check for that, along with other stuff, and if it doesn't like the answer it gets..it doesn't install or work, officially) and..see if you can upgrade to Mojave, or at least High Sierra. For the last few years eGPUs on Macs have been dependent on various crutches to run in OSX. Apple added support for AMD eGPUs in 10.13.4 but left out Nvidia support. This is unfortunate since few people actually want AMD cards if given a choice. You can finally add CUDA to your 6,1.
